CJ 216 Criminology Credits: 3
This course introduces students to the study of criminal behavior. It addresses the classical, neoclassical, biological, psychological, and sociological theories of the causes of criminal behavior and society's responses. Topics include an overview of criminology as a social science, patterns of crime and crime statistics, research methods and theory-building, and crimes against property and persons. Also included are classical theories, positivism, ecological and social disorganization theory, subcultural theory, conflict theory, and social control and social learning theory.
